Hello everyone! I am Nishal, the Turning Pages Mentor for BEM High School, Mangalore. The New Year brought with it a new library space for our children at BEM, a school which has both Kannada and English Medium. The library book collection was donated by IAHV(International Association for Human Values). This is the second library that we set up in collaboration with IAHV, the first one was set up at our partner school Holy Mother English School in Malwani, Mumbai. The library with 228 Kannada and 131 English books was inaugurated on Friday, January 3 by Ms. Bharthi Shevgoor, an author and corporate trainer based out of Mangalore. In her inaugural address, Ms Shevgoor spoke about how stories open up worlds of possibility and encourage creativity. Watching the children explore their own library was a heartwarming sight. Their excitement and joy as they browsed through the collection of storybooks was rewarding. We wish our children get to know of new worlds and make new friends by way of these new books at their library. Wishing you all a joyous 2025.
